These WORKPRO Block Planes are ideal for cleaning up wood ends and edges by removing thin shavings of wood, in order to make additional wood components fit together tighter, and within desired tolerances. When these low-angle block planes are set at the correct blade depth, they can help smooth rough areas of solid wood components, with greater precision in just a few simple passes. These cast iron block planes are easy to use and include a front wooden handle for improved control. They feature a single hardened and tempered steel blade set at a shallow angle, which allows the blade to slice through end grain with greater efficiency. Best results are achieved when the plane is held at an angle of up to 45 degrees when pulling or pushing across the edge of the wood. Sharp, dangerous wood corners can be easily removed with these compact planes, a process also known as chamfering, which leaves wood edges with safer, beveled edges. These planes are also frequently used for paring and butting end grains of stock material, for touchup and finish work, and for removing dry, hardened wood glue.

  1. Richard Zimmelman

    I fixed my bedroom door
Door was too wide for the door jam about 2 feet along the lower edge of the door. I bought this to plane off about 1/16 of an inch of door in that 2 foot spot and voila, my door closes perfectly now. Product worked well and as advertised.

  2. King Nii

    Good product
Quality was solid. Wish the trim pieces was a bit more sharp BUT it definitely got the job I needed done. It was my first time using a tool such as this to trim a door, pretty self explanatory to use. My use was extremely limited so I cannot comment on how it would work to use on wood making.

  3. Lana Skinner

    Economic
If you needed this for everyday usage, you’d spend a little more money. This takes a while to set up but worked fine otherwise.

  4. Sam Perez II

    Tough and value
The best hand planer I’ve ever owned. Solidly built. Does the work for you! Superior quality!

  5. BasedShaman

    Awesome!
    Excellent tool and great quality!

  6. Chris Hornberger

Sad to report; it’s pretty awful.
I’ve reconditioned a few planes and bought some mid-level stuff for daily use. I got this cheap plane for doing quick knock down of dowel ends, tear out prep, and other stuff that’s not basic smoothing and conditioning. I figured it would be fine for that kind of stuff. And it mostly is. But if you’re looking for any finesse or nuance whatsoever, just keep scrolling. As a useful daily tool for typical plane stuff, this thing is terrible. The blade never ends up where you think it will – or where you work really hard to park it. The combined chip breaker, anchor, and adjuster is just doing too much stuff, and any accuracy in blade depth and quareness goes right out the window. If all you ever want to do is knock down dowels or roughen edges if that’s a thing anyone ever wants, well, this tool will do a sophomoric job of even those simple things. Good luck. Or keep scrolling.

  7. Lance Stingray

Wish I got the one at Lowe’s
Difficult if not impossible to adjust. It’s basically got one blade height because of how it’s manufactured. You have to pick between a level blade or adjustable height.

  8. Randeep

    Works perfectly
Easy to use and value for money
