It is recommended for use in through or blind holes which allow for chip accumulation in the bottom of the hole. Ideal for threading a wide variety of ductile materials, copper and copper alloys, brass and non-metallics. High-speed steel tool is good for most general purpose applications, offering a combination of hardness and toughness for wear resistance. Uncoated tool feature just the base substrate without any additional treatment or coatings and is suitable for a wide range of applications. Round with square end shank. Straight flute tool allow chips to collect in the flutes as it cut and is well suited for most applications in shallow cuts. Right-Hand cut tool have a cutting action that engages when it is run in a clockwise direction.

    Not bad!
It broke on me but to be fair you take a risk each time you use a drill instead of a tap/die bar.It cut through thin gauge steel (my original reason for buying it) without tap fluid easy.It made it through 10 out of 12 deep aluminum holes with fluid before snapping. To be fair, and hence my 5 star, I knew the risk from using a drill for it and it was an afterthought. Some slide/rail parts I got only had half of the holes tapped for whatever reason, and I noticed they were 10-32 so I finished em with this guy.If I had an originally bigger purpose for purchasing, I would have paid $10 for a solid tap bit, but since I initially bought this for literally 4 tiny holes, and it was $3, I’ll give it 5 stars

    Good tap
Works very well plus the price is right.

  3. Lawman

    Good quality
Was able to retap a setscrew hole with no problems. This was hard to find in the local big box and hardware stores due to the size and thread count. It is also HSS and not just carbon steel which is a must.

  4. R&L

    good product, but don’t rush
This is a good product. I oiled it and took my time on the first set of threads I cut. The second set, I went too fast and snapped it off inside the hole I intended to tap. Take your time, do no more than 1/4 turn at a time, I did a full turn because I got overconfident and screwed up. Hopefully that helps.

Perfect to tab a mower shaft
Had some damage to the mower shaft threads on a Briggs and Stratton. First thread was damaged, so wasnt sure it was doing to go it, but once I pushed a bit, it went throught and it was all cleaned up!

Deeper grooves on 2 sides, better than Dewalt!
originally bought the Dewalt package, which is really, really hard steel & it snapped in the hole. Now this is a really small screw in a lawnmower, holding the transformer in place that sparks the spark plug as the magnets float by, so I couldn’t go bigger. Used a grinder to make an [X] on top center of hole & titanium impact bits from Harbor Freight to cut the initial hole & break bit.The larger grooves & some PB blaster, allowed the metals to collect as I turned the new tap, so I could screw unscrew, blow out/wipe & repeat, until the hole was clear for a new screw to go in.Dewalt’s pack, just didn’t have deep enough grooves for the metals & snapped when I was unscrewing, which was likely my fault. But this bit allowed me to go deeper, so it was quicker & a better choice for my project.

    Failed in a bad way.
Broke the first time I tried to use it, in cast iron, on my vertical mill, while mounting scales for a DRO, in a place that a bolt has to go. I’m pretty much screwed. The load was light. Used cutting oil. I fed it in 1/4 turn at a time, backing up to clear chips. Backed out and cleaned it with compressed air after every 3 turns. No reason for it to break. The temper of the steel used in this tap is too brittle. 40 years of experience with working with steel. Junk.

  8. James

    Well made
Came in a plastic case, seems well made. Good value.

  9. Richard

The tap does its job, which is cutting threads. I’ve only tapped 2 holes with it and seems to have held up fine, no visible wear. Good enough for the price. Have definitely used better quality taps.

  10. Cody Allen

This was one of the best taps I’ve ever used. I own a small business and needed some taps to manufacture some parts. I decided to get some new taps because the mastercraft I had were not threading very nicely. The three flutes and high quality build made it a breeze to tap around 80 holes. Well worth the price and I will definitely get more drill america taps in the future.

  11. Baso

Tap broken while making first thread on aluminum 🥹. Material is not strong . I bought other brand 5pieces set with less price works fine. This product useless.

  12. Kirk Gable

    chase threads

  13. Grant Borysiuk

The taps with the end sharpened like this are my favorite.
