Excellent Snips
This is a really nice pair of snips. I work with silver and gold and wanted a bigger one for thicker sheet. I’ve had my trusty, small snips for over 25 years and while I love them and use them every time I work, they just can’t cut much over 24 gauge. I decided to go bigger, and based on some suggestions from fellow ‘smiths, I went with Wiss. I got the straight cut.These puppies are SHARP and powerful. I’ve done 18 gauge annealed sterling silver with no problem and suspect 16 gauge would be ok, too, if you’ve got a good grip on your metal. They cut straight and clean.They are sharp enough that during the second half of our maiden voyage (while employing in a manner I’m certain is not recommended by the manufacturer) I cut the middle finger of my left hand badly enough to warrant 4 stitches.All in all, these snips are fantastic when they are being used as they are intended to be used. I’ve not tried them on any ferrous metals or anything else except my finger. On which they cut like butter…clean through that fleshy pad, but easy to stitch and fast to heal. I was going to include a photo, but because of which finger it is, it’s rather obscene.

Nice tool and cuts 0.5mm aluminum sheet like paper. Easy to squeeze the handles and glide along in a straight line.

Strong shears, abnormally large, some sticking
I just cut 20 feet of 19-gauge hardware cloth with these shears, and couple tough clamshell plastic cases.These are strong. It’s not quite as easy as a hot knife through butter, but it brings the impossible within reach.Another reviewer mentioned these were designed for giant hands, and this is true. These seems to be a design flaw. In order to use the full length of the blades, one would need to have a MASSIVE hand or thumb-to-pinky span, like a super buff Rachmaninoff. 99% of people will not be able to use the full length of the shears, which means making more short snips or using two hands to use the full length.After a few feet of cutting they started to stick and not reopen automatically; I had to open the handles to open the blades back up. However this isn’t permanent. They have moments of sticking and then unstick.I’m keeping these because they cut well, but I would look for smaller sized shears if I were to buy again.

Still excellent quality
Finally had to replace my original pair, after maybe 25 years of service. I abused it, using it to cut through cement and wire screening, while removing a wall full of tile in a bathroom. I expected the new one to be inferior in build quality, but was pleasantly surprised to see it was still well-made.

Amazing, durable, quality construction and feel. Very robust. The straight cut allows me to cut steel wire ties. Currently I work in construction and we have to put materials between the rebar, so cutting ties and barring the steels away is now an easy feat. I’m cutting these ties with the nose of the snips, literally just about get 1-2mm between the jaws and it cuts the steel wire! As a sparky I also use these for cutting and terminating kopex. Again these are a breeze and go straight through. My previous snips were Wiss, they lasted 3+ years. I still have them as a back up pair. Durability is the name. These will never let you down.
