Good so far… few months later and thinking they’re really quite nice
Corona AG 4930 Long Straight Snip, Tempered Steel ~ $14.99purchased Jul 28, 2022updated Oct 07, 2022Never had a pair of these type of pruners before so nothing to compare them to other than normal bypass pruners which I’ve had tons of. I got these for cleaning up my growing collection of potted plants since they’re small and have more little tight spots and these work out much better than bypass pruners for that. They came sharp and the blade action feels quality. (Edit: after a few months of on and off use the blade action is superb. Tight and even, you could cut paper with them and they’ve stayed that way after trimming up a lot of tiny branches) The textured plasti-dip type handle rubber is very nice. The spring is nice and long and well mounted so seems like it will stay put and not get lost. The “leather” closure strap seems a bit stupid but doesn’t really get in my way or cause distraction. One little niggle is the pivot bolt isn’t a bolt but a rivet so you can’t take them apart for cleaning and sharpening and can’t adjust them other than hammering the rivet down tighter and being very careful you don’t make them too tight. They are adjusted fine (beautifully even) as they came but I know how pruners and scissors age and need adjustment. And you can sharpen them without taking them apart and you can tighten them up down the road by giving that rivet a few careful taps, so not the end of the world. For $15 I think they’re very nice and I’m quite (very) happy with them.ABOUT RUST ON BLADES…High Carbon Steel 101For anyone who doesn’t know, generally speaking any steel that can take and hold a good edge (high carbon) is going to rust to some degree. Stainless steel doesn’t rust but you don’t want blades made from stainless as it’s softer than high carbon steel and will dull much quicker, need sharpening all the time, gets nicked and dented easier, and nowhere near ideal for blades. And I love stainless steel otherwise. And there are high carbon steels that rust less or slower like what Shun or Wusthof make their knives from but that would put the cost of these through the roof.I’ve done tons of sharpening in my 47 years, much of which was in a professional capacity, everything from carbide to chain saw blades, axes, pruners and loppers, to hair cutting scissors and the finest of cutlery. And these are a very nice blade steel for the price. Just clean your blades, occasionally oil them with some plant friendly oil, and accept the brown patina as a sign of good blade steel. The only thing that stops good larger hand pruners from seeming to rust so much is paint, and these can’t hold paint the same way because the scissor type action makes more metal to metal contact wearing the paint off. On some normal sized bypass style hand pruners you’ll notice the bed knife, the one that’s not sharp, is stainless steel but the side that does the cutting is high carbon protected by paint.

Great little snippers
I bought these for deadheading flowering plants. They cut beautifully and are comfortable to hold (I wear an L in women’s gloves; those with larger hands might find them too small). They seem nicely sturdy, especially for the price, but I wouldn’t try them on anything more robust than a flower stem. I dinged them a star because of the closing device, which is a loop at the end of the handles. The loop takes some doing to get it around the opposite handle – definitely not a one-handed operation, as with most pruners. A small irritant. But again, for the price, I am very happy with these.

Awesome product
We use these for trimming goats feet. These are AWESOME. they are hands down better than those green handle cutters (for 3 times the price) at the local farm store. Comfortable grip, easy to handle, and pointed for cleaning out the hoof before cutting. Extra sharp too in comparison. We’ve bought these for family that have goats.
