Great Sheers, Great Price
I work for a private ambulance company and I run anywhere between 1-12 calls in a 12 hour shift. I bought these after taking two calls back to back where I needed my sheers to work and the performed lack luster at best. They had black handles, so they got lost very easily at night and the metal was cheap. On the first call they got left behind but a police officer was able to bring them to the hospital. On the second call when trying to cut through a hoody, and a t-shirt at the same time they just quit working. When waiting at the ER for my partner to finish the report I got online and bought these. They came in a simple package, but from the moment I held them in my hands, they felt great. Cheaper sheers have play and the two blades aren’t sturdy. These are the exact opposite, they have NO play in the blades are the non-serrated side is VERY sharp. The handles are a dense plastic/rubber material with a softer rubber on the inside so you’re hands don’t get beat up as you cut with them. These are also on the smaller side which is nice due to not taking up a lot of room wherever you decide to store them (hip, side pocket, bag, etc). Lastly they are coated in a special coating that is smooth and makes them easy to clean allowing the sheers to last longer.”Extra Features” – There are two small divots between the handles and the “hinge” that I am 99% sure are used for opening and closing oxygen bottles. They work in a bind but with bottles that have been opened and closed over and over and over again they may not work great because the sides of the bottle get rounded and it makes it hard to get a grip. The red is very nice and makes them easier to see at night or if they get dropped somewhere. If you don’t like the grey buy some cheap nail polish in your choice of color and do some painting.Overall for those of us in healthcare that need our sheers to work without issue, buy these. They are $10 and will last you quite a long time, and the quality is excellent for the price. If you buy these for say a first aid kit, they are also great; don’t buy the cheap ones, spend and extra $5 and buy ones that will cut through a penny if need be. (Note: Yes they will, just know it will tear up the sheers)

MUCH better than ‘average’ shears….
I wanted to get a “better” set of trauma shears than some of the other ones I’ve had over the years…. and this is definitely it! Not that shears are a ‘heavy’ item, but the lesser weight of the titanium is noticeable. Nothing fancy, but they fit well in my (larger) hands, cut well and have a nice and tight ‘action’, and the red trim makes them look kinda snappy!Once again, they are shears… I’ve had $2 scissors to $20 scissors and with little exception, not a whole lot of differences. But these ARE better than the average shears and I bet much better lasting and rust/stain proof…. now if I can just keep from loosing them to ‘sticky-fingers’…..UPDATE: Just bought a Leatherman Raptor… doesn’t change the quality of this product… but it’s a whole different ball game now. REALLY, you gotta get a set… do yerself a favor.ALMOST 4 YEARS ON… THESE STILL CUT LIKE THEY’RE BRAND NEW!

tough scissors for tough jobs
Pros: Cut through 3/4″ PVC tubing cleanly and safely. Treads where other scissors fear to go. These are far safer and more effective than most things advertised as tube or hose cutters.Cons: noneOther thoughts: I should have purchased these years ago.Update: Nearly 2 years later I broke these through the thumb piece cutting a notch in a plastic utility bucket for a power cord on a pond pump. This was my dedicated PC water-cooling scissors and the bucket is to clean parts. Before lecturing me, I realize these were not designed to cut a PVC bucket but they had not failed me yet. The blades are fine but the titanium metal inserts only a short way into the plastic thumb piece. If you are cutting something like a PVC bucket and can’t control the angles well then it is easy to place too much force on the thumb piece. It snapped where the thumb piece becomes 100% plastic. The titanium blades remain fine but it no longer works as a scissor. I may order another pair because they are inexpensive and I really stressed them.Perhaps the next upgrade is Kevlar cutting scissors/shears so will try those – never know when I may need to cut another notch in a utility bucket, LOL. I would not remove any stars. I like the one-handed control of scissors far better than larger chopping devices like pruning shears. And it is easier than getting out a power tool like a Dremel. It’s under $10 too. Perhaps the bottom line is if you have to really squeeze to cut the material, then don’t. Get something more robust so you don’t break these nice scissors.

Great Shears
Although I now use my Benchmade rescue hook more than I use my bandage scissors when I am in a Trauma, there are just some things you need bandage scissors for. These are probably the best trauma shears I have ever used. They are well built, lightweight, and sharp. I have cut through a thick leather belt effortlessly with these. In my opinion they are worth the extra few dollars over the cheapo shears.

I need to buy two more….because they are that good.
I originally bought these to put in my bag that I keep in my truck (I would say my every day carry bag, it is just a little big to go walking around every where with it, but I am always close to my truck) so that if I had a bad wound, I could cut through the clothing around it. But they are absolutely great scisors, and I will have to buy a couple more sets. They cut pretty clean (although I wouldn’t use them for preparing the next big meeting packet). I need to buy two more of these actually. The set I bought for my bag never made it that far, they stay on my desk at work. Need to buy one to go in my bag, and then a third to use as meat shears. Much cheaper, and much better at cutting.
