    Perfect for Pottery Trimming Tools
I bought these hacksaw blades in order to make my own trimming tools for ceramics / pottery. Hsin Chuen Lin has a wonderful video on YouTube demonstrating how he makes these. Since they are 10 inches long I first used pliers to cut (bend) them in half and then proceeded from there. Look up “Hsin Churn Lin make trimming tool” on YouTube to watch the video. With a torch heating the blade for 30 seconds I could easily bend them in any direction I want without snapping it. It is also very easy to sharpen with a bend grinder. Yes they do rust if in contact with water for a long time or if I leave clay on them for a couple nights. But that’s to expect with this kind of metal. I also just bought a stainless steel hacksaw blade here on amazon for $11 that is 22 inches long. With that logic I can make 4 trimming tools for quite cheap. Of course I’ll be expecting more out of the stainless steel. Thankfully amazon has it otherwise its quite hard to find stainless steel hacksaw blades of strips anywhere online. Anyways these pack of 10 hacksaw blades end up making 20 trimming tools and at an average of $.50 a piece! And they work waaaay better than trimming tools I have purchased. Give it a try! If you don’t want to buy a torch (I got one from Home Depot for $14.99) then trying using your stove. It should still work but I recommend the torch so you can do it outside as the burning metal gives off a bit of a smell. These 5 stars I have rated is based on the price and quality for making my pottery trimming tools. I don’t know how they are as saws themselves.

    So far, so good!

    Can’t cut soft steel.
I found these blades to be soft, thin, and dull. I could not cut even soft steel with them. I tried to cut a conduit support bracket (these are so soft I can bend them with bare hands). The blade only cut halfway through this small piece before the teeth were flattended and could cut no more; I had expended several times the effort normally required to cut through such a piece. Tried a second blade: same result.I replaced these with quality blades from the home center, and cut through my bracket with a few strokes.Cost for the good blades: $1.50 each.Cost for these junk blades: $0.91 each.

    Cheap
Cheap cheap cheap blades. First time I tried to use one, all the teeth ground away before I was 1/3 of the way through the cut. Luckily I purchased the Starrett Bi-Metal High Speed blades at the same time. Switched to one of them and finished the cut in seconds.
