    Beginner level, great learning set.
I have had other experienced sharpeners say this is a waste of money. First of all sharpening is not an easy task, there is a learning process, on top of that my hands shake. It took me several attempts and some time to get the hang of just improving my knives. This set was what I needed, after this set I may desire to invest in a couple of Shaptons for $100+, but for now this is what I use to sharpen my kitchen knives. The little plastic guide is only good for scratching your knife. I finally used the flattening stone, it worked great.

Great for a casual home user
Pretty decent sharpening stone for a casual and beginner. Just wanted a better tool than those carbide blade pull through sharpeners. I am pretty sure mine is labeled backwards because the “400” grit side is a lot smoother than the “1000” side. Comes with an angle guide which is useful, and a nice enough holder.

    100% satisfied
I have a set of Farberware brand kitchen knives (nothing fancy) for about 3 yrs now. I cook often so the knives were in good use and of course they started going dull. I was skeptical about this sharpening slab but gave it a shot and I must say I’m impressed.I started off with the 400 side and basically revived my knives they now cut better than ever, damn near katanas now lol. It’s simple and easy to use (I referenced the instructional video) and I recommend.

Basic whetstone does the job well
I purchased this to sharpen my folding knives and my wife’s kitchen knives. Works great. Takes a little practice, but basically works as intended. After much practice, knives are no longer dull, but really sharp. I like the assortment of grits.Only downside is that this does not work for concave knives like fillet knives.Other than that, works great to sharpen standard straight or convex knives.

Mostly good but doesn’t grip counter top.
Sharpens knives just fine, but the bamboo base simply does not grip the countertop. At all. I have to put it against the wall to use it.The guide works well, but it also scraped up the side of my knife. I wouldn’t want to use it on an expensive or beautiful knife.

I was pleasantly surprised by this. So far I’ve had a few evenings spent sharpening my kitchen and working knives. I like that it’s essentially a complete set with the non-slip base (bamboo), various grits, angle guide, and flattening stone (to maintain your sharpening stones). I paired this with a leather strop and ceramic honing rod from Sharpal and this combo is great for pretty much all my sharpening needs!
