My old and very cheap dressmaking scissors finally stopped cutting cleanly. I tried many pairs of new scissors – all of which promised me that they would cut several layers of fabric cleanly. That never happened. Finally I tried the 8 inch knife sharpened Gingher dressmaking shears. These scissors are fantastic! If you are easily distracted by other brands of scissor – ergonomic handles, coloured blades, gold screws etc donât go there – these work very very well. I have arthritis and these scissors are comfy to hold. They cut cleanly from joint to tips of the blades. They smoothly chop through several layers and handle chiffon to denim. No snags, no getting the tip of the blade caught up in the fabric. Whatâs more, they can be sharpened! Wish Iâd tried these earlier.

These cut like a hot knife through butter. So much better than a previous cheaper fabric shear I had. Well balanced, nice overall weight and handle shape. These are not heavy or too large. One tine is pointy and the other flat for precise cutting. 2 halves are held together with a nut, not riveted like other brands; thatâs what made my decision. Would buy again
