Definitely worth the money
I bought this along with the proper blade to help with masking for painting my entire house. Combined with narrow painter’s tape and 9″ paper rolls, this has proved invaluable. It has proven especially useful to prevent overspray when touching up some spots on the ceiling and for masking off around the windows and trim when spraying the exterior of the house. It has also come in handy to prevent walls and floors from getting messed up when some not so skilled family members “helped” paint trim and cabinets.Once I routed the tape correctly I haven’t had any issues with the tape affixing to the paper as I pull it off. It happens smoothly and with out me having to pay any special attention to it. (very important when standing on a ladder trying to mask off something overhead)This isn’t cheap, but it has made the process of masking off certain things much faster and has saved me from a lot of repainting and touch ups.

Iâm working on the tedious task of painting the oak trim in my house
This masker makes life SO much easier! Iâm working on the tedious task of painting the oak trim in my house, white. Itâs going to be a long process 🙂 taping and prep work are the least exciting parts of any job, so anything that can help make that go faster and smoother is a winner in my book. I bought this masker after seeing it on a youtube video and I canât believe how much easier it has made my life! I use a masking tape and brown roller paper to run along my floors, just below my floorboard trim. This protects my floors for about 9 inches from the wall out, which is plenty to protect them while painting trim. I donât need to run a full drop cloth across the floor, and having my protective surface taped down keeps it from sliding away from where I need it most.I also purchased some of the folding plastic film for panting window trim. For that I use blue painters tape along with the plastic and tape off the top of the window, just at the trim. (I have vinyl windows, so I donât need to paint the window frames themselves.) From there, I can fold down the plastic, tape the sides of the plastic to the sides of the frame and tape the bottom of the plastic along the bottom of the frame. Then, my whole window and frame are safe from paint. You CAN buy film and paper that come pre-taped and you can roll it out buy hand, but it is expensive and this is SO. MUCH. EASIER. Seriously. It goes smoothly, and quickly. I donât have to fight with masking tape rolling, folding or tearing on my. I donât accidentally stick the tape to the loose plastic or paper. My cuts are always nice and straight and even. It goes SO quickly! I can have the floors of an entire room taped and protected in 5 minutes or less.Psychologically, it seems hard to justify buying a tool for something that really, you CAN do on your own, but if youâre going to be doing several projects or a large, time consuming project like painting trim, the money this costs more than make up for the time it saves. We have a whole house worth of trim to paint, and the next project will be the walls. I am getting PLENTY of use out of this. Additionally, I can bring it to friends and familyâs homes to help them mask their painting projects, they generally pay for their own tape, paper, plastic etc. I feel that I have already more than gotten my moneyâs worth for this. Also, donât forget to buy the blade, it doesnât come with one, unfortunately. Save yourself some money and just buy the sharp, plastic blade, and skip the âpaperâ blade. You can cut the paper with the plastic blade just fine, but you canât cut the plastic with the paper blade. Thereâs no reason to buy both and try to change them all the time.

One of the most useful tools a painter can have
Oh, this product is such a time saver for anyone undertaking a painting project. I used this on two projects – an office and a small bathroom that really needed new paint jobs. Our house had been a rental for nearly 7 years, and it certainly showed in the condition of the walls. This masker saved me hours of time by enabling me to protect the baseboards, carpet, and windows with as little effort as possible, especially when used with the straight cut blade. With the appropriate stuff masked, I was able to achieve near professional results. Make sure to watch the masking tips by the Idaho Painter on YouTube to understand how best to use this indispensable tool, and it will save you hours of time and potential heartbreak caused by paint getting on the wrong things. One of the best tools I have acquired. Highly recommended!

Works great as intended
Easy to use. I use it to put masking paper and tape around edges for different kinds of jobs when painting. Light even with the roll of paper and tape. Two things I donât like are that it doesnât come with the blade so donât get it anticipating ur going to get the blade attachment. Make sure to buy it separately so youâve been warned. Secondly, no matter what type of blade you use it does come off easily even if you place it gently down. Or have it stored amongst other things.

Super quality and works great
makes masking fun and easy! Changed my painting forever. I am a landlord that has done interior and exterior painting many times over the past 25yrs and this is my favorite new painting tool! It makes masking/taping windows etc. fun. Be sure to get the plastic film cutting blade to go with this – I can’t imagine using this tool without it! plastic at doors and windows becomes SO easy! Just be real strict with loading and make sure it is perfectly aligned.

Masking made easy!
Geez, where was this tool three rooms ago! I am a diy-er who is doing a light rehab on my century home. This masker makes the cumbersome task of masking kinda fun. I saw this used by The Idaho Painters on youtube and it truly is a must have tool. It does not come with the optional blade, but it’s nothing a new blade on a utility knife can’t handle. Its pretty easy to use, but can be awkward on corners and and masking tasks requiring the aid of a ladder. Overall I’m happy with this new tool.
