Great quality for a great price
I bought two of these for my drill press, and I’ll probably order a third one later. Very handy. Easy to adjust, they hold firmly in place, and once they are set they have no play in them whatsoever, unlike their lesser quality counterparts. Anyone who operates a drill press will know that having your material securely fastened not only makes work easier, but more importantly, SAFER. Highly recommended.

Great Value
The POWERTEC 71012 9-inch drill press clamp was absolutely perfect for my projects. Very easy to use and position to securely hold average thickness materials. I am a light to medium user of a basic drill press and this was the tool I needed to safely drill any material. I highly recommend it!

Really good, could be smoother.
This clamp works pretty darn well. It is so handy it makes it easy to clamp things to the table, which is really safe. I think most people tend to be safe if it is easier to do so and this makes it a lot easier. As well as helping accuracy. The reasons it didn’t get five stars, the ring that holds the unit in place needs a bigger bearing surface. A washer is fine but it is a pain to hold the washer up on the bolt and then thread the ring on, just like a loose washer upside down is always a pain. The other is that the adjustment screw is not that smooth. Awkward to be holding the work on the table with one hand and your chin, and trying to tighten or loosen the tension with the other. So, it’s not a high dollar smooth as silk, cast, machined and hand lapped piece of toolmaking art, but it is a terrific value for a very handy and safe tool. I would definitely buy it again.

Ok, nothing big for the review here, just information that I wish was more up front when I ordered – This clamp ended up being exactly what I wanted, and I’ll be ordering a second one. What I didn’t know when I ordered:1) A 9″ clamp has nothing to do with the size of material you can clamp, the throat or anything else about the function of the clamp, its just an overall length of the clamp – kind of a dumb measurement in my book, but I guess it gives you an overall idea on the size. (See picture)2) The actual clamping surface has some little teeth – great for holding stuff, but will def leave a mark in wood and soft metals. Use some scrap on top of the piece you are clamping to protect more delicate surfaces. (See picture)3) The throat of the clamp is about 3″, not 3-1/2″ – maybe 3-1/2″ if you had something not touching the tablefor that last half inch… (See picture)4) The thickest material you can clamp is about 2-5/8″ (See picture)5) The clamp will clamp all the way down to the table, so on the other end of thickness you can clamp right down to 0″ thick – from reading other reviews, apparently not all clamps do this, so if you drill really thin materials, this clamp will do it for you.I can’t speak for the longevity and durability since I just got it, but it seems well made. If it breaks or I have problems I’ll come back and update.

A great hold-down while drilling.
This gadget is great! so simple and obvious, yet so useful. It has literally saved my fingers from harm by doing the holding while drilling instead of my fingers. Plus my drilling is more accurate. I need a second one.

Nice clamp.
Nice clamp, works fine. I did need to put a washer on it for it to work on my drill press, the ring on the bottom isn’t wide enough to span the webbing under my drill table. Not a big deal.

Horrible Quality
I know there are a lot of these out there and wanted to buy good ones; however, I realize now that these are the ones I wanted to stay away from. Extremely poor quality and I will most likely throw them out and continue my search. Harbor Freight would have been better than these and I don’t want those either. Live and learn!

For an inexpensive tool, I’m pretty happy with the quality of this clamp. The 9″ model fits very well on my smaller Mastecraft drill press, and it’s quick to put on and remove. The tension adjustment works well and it’s fairly easy to make sure that you are not putting too much tension on the table while clamping. The finish is a little rough but overall I think good value for the money. I should have had this years ago, it would have saved my many injuries.As a bonus ,this also works well on a make shift welding plate I have. I will be ordering more in the future.I’m glad I didn’t get the 12″ model as it would have been too large for my table.
