Torn here cuz the 845 is boss, this company tho
I was accidentally sent the wrong item by the company. They said they would return it, but I didn’t want to go through all of that trouble of returning the item, re-ordering or waiting for this. The device they sent me was out of date and I already had 2 that were nicer (impact wrench). If you’re getting the 845 know it’s the best one Dewalt has out besides the 888. I have the 845 and the 850 and they’re both great. I use the 850 more on the job, the 845 stays in the workshop. They should’ve just sent me the right product and let me keep the one that was THEIR mess up. Why should I go spend a few hours returning the product they messed up on and shipped me by accident? They should have made it right, who cares about the hundred dollar wrench they accidentally sent?

Way more torque
Iâm a tile installer and I use my impacts all the time. This has way more torque with the same batteries as my other Dewalts. My new favorite impact!

Good price and quality
This drill does not disappoint. Iâve always wanted to add an impact drill to my tool collection and it was well worth the purchase. Iâve had other Dewalt tools and Iâm sure I will have this for years to come, and it will hold up under heavy usage.

Debated this one (845 XR) or the Atomic (850) – note: there are even newer ones coming
So, when the VERY short Dewalt Atomic 850 driver came out it got great reviews and really outpowered almost every other driver in the Dewalt ecosystem. I was sold, but then I started to read reviews mentioning reliability issues (from trades people in particular). Indeed, there were a LOT of them reporting they just didn’t hold up. Around this same time, Dewalt released the 840 driver (Sheesh Dewalt….too many drivers!), and it had even more power, but was a little longer and had no speed controls.I assumed Dewalt would release a new XR version to replace their older (but still around) driver and sure enough – this 845 XR came along. Honestly, I’m pretty happy with it overall. Balance, power, control, etc. – all work really well for me. I just used it to install some shower grab bar anchor screws just the other day. No complaints for my uses cases which don’t include driving a lot of big lags. The only downside to this tool and even the 850 was that it did not move the bar in terms of sheer power (important IF that is what you need) – especially as compared to Milwaukee and their monster drivers. If you do need that power, then maybe a Milwau….wait, this just in, Dewalt is releasing TWO MORE drivers this year. One is a hydraulic impact (nice for inside use!) and the other is clearly designed to go after Milwaukee on the power front. At first, I regretted not waiting for the new, more powerful, driver they ar releasing, but honestly, it is bulkier, likely heavier and, again for my use case, I’d rather have the smaller tool with likely more finesse (maybe not Makita level finesse, but still good). It is all about the RIGHT tool for the job (which is also why I have the more compact DCD800 drill driver as my every day drill over the BIG 99* series). Nothing wrong with the BIG BOY tools, but overkill for a lot of jobs.I am, of course, tempted by the new hydraulic driver…can’t wait!

How did I live without this?
I used to drive screws with a drill. What a difference this tool makes. The variable torque settings make it easy to adjust to the size fastener that youâre driving. Itâs nice to find something that meets and exceeds your expectations.

Having used one to sink anchor bolts into trees at the cottage, I was so impressed I bought a combo driver/drill kit for myself! The driver although being a less expensive version worked great as well. ⦠But while doing some work on my deck and going in and out, some porch pirate brazenly walked up and stole it!! #@$%!!!So I decided to purchase this model and Iâm glad I did!⦠Itâs a very good buy for the price! ⦠The same rugged quality construction and balance with the power to handle an assortment of projects! In particular I like the 3 Speed selector which offers torque options! And as opposed to the single LED light as was on my stolen version, this includes 3 arranged around the front for extra illumination when needed!⦠Iâm glad I had an extra battery but hey,,, I have no problems with recommending this item!!
